A small selection of travel possibilities:

A trip to Barcelona is essential. By bus it takes a little more than an hour to get there following the motorway along the coast, or by train (modern trains that follow the coast) which arrives in the city centre in an hour and is not excessively expensive. You must visit the 1.2 kilometres of the well-known Ramblas; the view of the city; the columns of the Picasso museum; la Sagrada Familia, the momentous cathedral of the Catalan architect Gaudí; naturally the football stadium and museum of FC Barcelona with a capacity of 120,000 spectators; and the Olympic sites of Montjuïc (Barcelona organized the 25th Olympic games in 1992). All of this can be found in any visitor’s guide.

Montserrat, the famous stone monastery with its Black Virgin; Gerona, the capital of the province; Figueres, famous for its Dalí museum; Blanes with its Mar y Murtra botanical garden; A boat trip along the Costa Brava; Marineland with its dolphins (and the parrot show in Palafolls); Waterworld in Lloret; Wine tasting in Llagostera at Can Ramiro; A barbecue at Santa Susanna; Medieval functions at the Valltordera castle.
